Chris Stell Creative Arts

Welcome to my online store.

I hope you enjoy the graphic glasswear that I have created for you and your home. My graphic design and craft background with some imagination all work together to give me what I feel is a very unique style. I utilize my drawing skills to freehand etch illustrations out of the surface of the dichroic glass. Then it's all fired in one of my kilns from 1400-1850 degrees.

The colored metalworks are all hand created and anodized in my studio. The metal is hypoallergenic and contains no nickel or lead in addition to being so lightweight.

NEW! I have added illustrated merchandise using my whimsical illustrations.

Scrap glass, findings and supplies are also available.

If you should travel to San Diego please come visit my studio in Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park.

About Me

Chris Stell

I have been involved in art since childhood. Growing up I experimented with multiple mediums including illustration, copper enameling, silk screening, macramé, weaving, pottery, stained glass, wire and beaded jewelry. I came to San Diego in 1972 and attended San Diego State where I received a BA in advertising art. I have been a graphic designer/art director since then. In 1999 I combined all of my past art experiences and incorporated them into my glasswork. The range of crafts and graphic design, along with some imagination, all work together to give me what I feel is a very unique style. I utilize my drawing skills to freehand etch illustrations out of the surface of the dichroic glass using a variety of techniques before the glass is fired. My creations include jewelry, watches, belts, buttons, wall art, dishes, ornaments and free-standing sculptures. I also draw pattern masters for CBS (Coatings by Sandberg), ArtGlassSupplies.com and ProFusion Glass.

The working/retail studio is open 7 days a week. There is an artist demonstration everyday. I am there Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. More of my work can be found in the Art Glass Guild, studio #25.
